Digital Dining says, “GAME ON!” At RIM Park
RIM Park is the City of Waterloo's premier 500-acre park and recreation facility located in the Northeast corner of Waterloo, Ontario. With 18 outdoor sports fields, a multi-purpose recreation building, trails, park land, golf course, heritage and art, RIM Park provides endless opportunities for the community's recreation needs.

Previously using an ailing last-generation keyboard POS system, RIM Park & the City of Waterloo called on Armagh Cash Register to provide the award winning Digital Dining touch screen POS system for three primary revenue centers within the RIM Park complex. The challenging installation included a Williams Coffee Pub quick service POS terminal, two Bench Warmer Bar & Grill POS terminals where they service both fast bar and full table-service clientele, and also three stadium-style concession stands where they serve everything from Pizza Pizza, popcorn, soft drinks, hotdogs, and other short-order fare.
RIM Park’s demanding requirements are easily satisfied by Digital Dining’s flexible feature set, handling a Freepour Liquor Control interface, report export files to satisfy strict accounting needs, integrated credit & debit by highspeed internet to provide more secure handling of payments while speeding up transaction times, and multiple revenue centers and the ability to report on every revenue center (Williams Coffee Pub, Bench Warmer Bar & Grill, Concessions) separately on any report. In addition to all of that functionality, the system had to be able to handle the intense demand of peak periods, no matter how much volume thrown at them, and to be able to expand the system for future needs if ever required.

How Digital Dining Serves Three Hospitality Revenue Centers At RIM Park:
The Williams Coffee Pub POS terminal provides unprecedented ease and speed during transactions, with unprecedented accuracy. The Digital Dining “Quick Service” register type was installed there, to make the register more suitable for QSR operations. Williams can utilize the Double feature within Digital Dining to provide smaller easier-to-use menus, while increasing item accuracy. The “Prep” screen allows baristas the ability to look back on what was just ordered to aid in the building of orders, print receipts, or just confirm order accuracy. The rear displays keep the cashiers honest, while helping keep the customers informed of their transaction total and change due, while integrated credit & debit makes the whole process end quickly and securely.

The Bench Warmer Bar & Grill is a full-service restaurant serving everything from snacks and appetizers to full meals. The Fast Bar register type is installed there, where they are able to do instant over-the-counter bar sales, automated bar tabs, and full-service table orders. Food orders in the restaurant are routed to the kitchen where they are prepared accurately and efficiently, and the customized prep printing from Digital Dining prevents confusion and enables the kitchen to keep the orders from the restaurant and the concession stands separate. Digital Dining’s revenue center tracking keeps their checks and sales separate from Williams and the Concessions, and the customized check layouts and report layouts suit the restaurant perfectly, while the quick service locations have their own. The Freepour liquor control system interfaced directly with Digital Dining keeps inventory at the bar in order, while comparing sales to totals poured. To maintain transaction security, integrated credit & debit keeps orders and payments organized together, reduces transaction times to 3 seconds, and automatically does the math on commissions and tips so that the Servers only need to pay attention to one line on their reports at the end of their shifts.
The RIM Park Concession Stands are installed with the Quick Service register type, just as the Williams Coffee Pub POS. Transactions here are fast – they can be as fast as two seconds. Include credit & debit, they can be as fast as 10 seconds. Digital Dining’s vast speed key layout for Quick Service allows the concessions to have every menu item on one POS screen, eliminating the need to navigate around searching for menu items. Items ordered like whole Pizza Pizza’s, that require kitchen preparation print directly to the kitchen, and the customized prep layouts specify to the kitchen exactly what revenue center, what POS terminal, and what cashier ordered the item. There is no confusion as to “who ordered what?”
“No matter how many transactions they do, Digital Dining just keeps running. In fact, the more demanding the environment, the larger the challenge, the higher the volume, the greater Digital Dining performs,” states Harry Mitchell, Armagh Cash Register’s Account Manager for RIM Park, “Digital Dining POS handles 7 terminals just as efficiently as it would handle 30 terminals or more. No matter how much RIM Park wants to throw at it, we can handle it.”
