Armagh Cash Register Wins Contract For Concession Stands
Officially opening it’s doors in 1967, the Civic Centre in Brantford, Ontario, is a 2,981 seat arena and is host to the Brantford Blast (Junior A) and Brantford Golden Eagles (Junior B) hockey teams. Located right next door to the Brantford Charity Casino, the facility hosts the Garden Brothers Circus, various concerts, charity events, and the Annual Home & Garden Show, filling the Civic Centre regularly.
The facility generates revenue from 3 concession stands selling beverages, popcorn, hot dogs, and other concession treats. Brantford Civic Centre recently went to tender for their POS system and awarded the 7 terminal POS contract to Armagh Cash Register Ltd., selecting the Toshiba TEC FS-2700 keyboard terminal.
The 7 quick service registers (QSR) are networked together, in a fully redundant, self-healing LAN network. This enables the terminals to share a receipt printer at each concession, reducing total system cost and long-term maintenance expenses. Because the terminals are networked, sales reports and price changes are real-time, and the expansion possibility to a future back office software system is available to Brantford Civic Centre Management at any time.
The secure redundant network architecture of the Toshiba FS series is revolutionary in an all-in-one hospitality product – there is no Master/Slave relationship between terminals – all of the terminals are independent. This was an enormous improvement compared to the system that the FS-2700 replaced. In the unfortunate event that there is a network problem, all 7 terminals will automatically, without procedures, run offline – meaning no downtime. When the network connectivity is restored, the FS-2700 terminals will automatically, and also without procedures, reconnect to the system network, and immediately exchange all sales data during the disconnection, as though they were never disconnected.
The FS-2700's suitability for this type of installation has made it the perfect system for the Civic Centre as it achieves the goals of both the customer, Brantford Civic Centre, and the service provider, Armagh Cash Register. Simplicity of design and superior technology will reduce the overall cost of ownership to the operation, reduce downtime to virtually zero, and improve customer service to the Civic Centre's customers by providing shorter lines and faster transactions.
The old adage, "The show must go on!" seems to fit the Toshiba TEC FS Series product genuinely. In this respect, the Toshiba TEC FS-2700 system embodies the words of famous performers everywhere.
